New California Secessionists Hope To Split The State Into Two

Could it finally happen this time around? "New California" has declared independence from the state of California. This new state would own all of California's rural areas while giving current California all the urban counties. Its founder, Robert Paul Preston, wants to form the new state because of the many problems with California's education and high taxes.

“Well, it’s been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California…” said Preston.

“There’s something wrong when you have a rural county such as this one, and you go down to Orange County which is mostly urban, and it has the same set of problems, and it happens because of how the state is being governed and taxed,”

Below is a part of New California's Declaration of Independence from current California. To read the whole declaration of independence:

However when a long train of abuses and acts to seize and hold the people’s power without legal authority and pursuing invariably the same Object that clearly demonstrates a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

The history of the present Governor and Government of California is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of a Tyranny over the Counties of New California and the State of California.

Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to seek a constitutional remedy to the abuse of powers.

We the people of the Counties of New California so lemnly publish and declare these counties are, and of Right ought to be, a free and Independent State, that we strive to be free from the State of California, and that as a Free and Independent State, have full power to establish and maintain law and order, to promote general prosperity, and to do all other acts and things, which an Independent New California State may rightfully do.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the Counties of New California, appeal to the California Legislature and the Federal Congress to pass resolutions to create the State of New California.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.

I believe the results of this will mirror that of Jefferson. The State of Jefferson had/has more potential as a state than this 'New California' in my honest opinion anyways. There is more counties that voted for Hillary over Trump with New California than Jefferson. Aside from this, the State of Jefferson has been a movement for a very long time and has more support from the people, at least from what I have seen.

Jefferson does include some Oregon counties which is an added hindrance to seccession, but regardless, neither will happen. You need the approval of the state for seccession. I am not sure how involved the federal government can get, and personally, I am not sure I want the federal government involved regardless if the results would favor my political alignment. It would take people up in arms to get California to even think about letting go of those counties, especially so many. For one, that is a huge loss in tax revenue. Second, it would greatly diminish Californias federal influence with representatives and mainly with the electoral college. 2020 will be a huge election that the dems will try even harder to win than the last election where they were certain their media backing would leave Trump in the dust. California is their heavy weight, it is their backbone even more than Texas is for the Republicans.

Personally, I still think Jefferson is the more promising seccession state in California, but I will support either. If this New California keeps momentum and support grows, I would be glad to put some of my own money into it or Jefferson. I will maintain hope, but the likelyhood of this succeeding is minimal.

My ultimate wish is that America will see that California isn't all just a liberal hellhole, there are millions of patriots in it's Eastern and Northern counties, and even many that reside within the cities. It saddens me to see what has happened to California. Just a few decades ago it's governor was Ronald Reagan. It saddens me even more to see so many conservatives move out of these liberal states. We need to maintain as much possible influence in these states. Liberals are migrating from these cities to midwestern states more than ever, it's time we push back! Of course I can't blame anyone for wanting to distance themselves from the insanity of California.
